Michael Papadimitriou is a Professor of Floriculture & Post Harvest Physiology of Cut Flowers in the Department of Agriculture, School of Agriculture, Food and Nutrition, TEI of Crete. He received a BSc in Agriculture from the Agricultural University of Athens (1974). He also holds a one-year specialisation certificate from the Agricultural University of Wageningen, Netherlands (1981) and a PhD from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1995).
He has worked for Cretan Floricultural Cooperatives and the Institute of Viticulture, Floriculture and Vegetable Crops of Heraklion. Since 1985 he has been a tenured Professor at the TEI of Crete, teaching General and Professional Floriculture (Cut Flowers and Potted Plants); he has also taught courses in Greenhouse Structures and Equipment, and in Outdoor Ornamental Plants and Landscape Gardening.
He has published papers and participated in many national and international scientific conferences on floriculture, as well as competitive research projects. His research interests focus on the improvement of the production techniques and post harvest handling of cut flowers and potted plants, hydroponic flower cultivation and the introduction of endemic plant species and new floricultural plants to Greek Floriculture.
