Georgios Markakis is a Professor in the Department of Agriculture, School of Agriculture, Food and Nutrition, TEI of Crete. He holds a BSc in Mathematics from the Department of Mathematics, Patras University (1984). He received his PhD from the University of Patras in Non Standard Analysis, Probabilities and Fuzzy Sets (1990).
In the period 1993-1998 he was employed as PD407 teaching staff and appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology, University of Crete, teaching Biometry at undergraduate and postgraduate level. He has been on the scientific staff of the TEI of Crete since 1998.
He has co-authored over 30 research papers published in international peer-reviewed scientific journals and participated in at least 10 EU-funded research projects, two of them as Coordinator. He was Head of the Department of Greenhouse Crops and Floriculture for 8 years, and President of the Association of Scientific Staff of the TEI of Crete for 6 years. His research interests concern the applications of Statistics to Biology, Agriculture and the Humanities.
At the TEI of Crete he teaches Biomathematics and Agricultural Experimentation in the Department of Agriculture, and Statistics and Biostatistics in the School of Health and Welfare Services.
