Automatic external defibrillators at the Heraklion Campus of the Hellenic Mediterranean University from the Region of Crete

Two automatic external defibrillators were installed at the Hellenic Mediterranean University in Heraklion on Friday, September 20, 2024 as part of the “LIFE” Program, implemented by the Region of Crete.

One defibrillator was placed in the basketball hall at the “Indoors Gym Markos Karanastasis” and the other at the entrance of the Administration Building in the central courtyard of the Heraklion Campus. The Rector of HMU Prof. Nikos Katsarakis and the Deputy Regional Governor of Crete and supervisor of the Health and Mobile Units sectors, Mr. Giorgos Pitsoulis, were present at the placement of the defibrillators. Soon, a training of the university community is planned. These defibrillators are designed to be used safely and effectively by anyone.

The goal of the “LIFE” program is to install a total of 270 latest generation defibrillators in sports venues and busy areas of the island.
