Strengthening the Collaboration Ties of HMU with the City of Ningbo in the Fields of Academic and Cultural Relations

Another important visit of a high‑level governmental delegation from the city of Ningbo, China, to the Hellenic Mediterranean University was added to the series of similar meetings that have taken place in recent months. This visit constituted a significant step toward strengthening the collaboration ties between the two sides, with the ultimate goal of drafting a cooperation framework aligned with HMU’s strategic policy on internationalization, which will be reflected in concrete actions in the near future.

The meeting, held on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, in the Senate Conference Hall, was attended on behalf of HMU by Rector Prof. Nikos Katsarakis; Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Lifelong Learning, Prof. Fotios Mavromatakis; Vice Rector for Research and Innovation, Prof. Athanasios Malamos; Vice Rector for International Relations and Extroversion, Prof. Konstantinos Petridis; Executive Director Dr. Vanessa Simandiraki; Dean of the School of Agricultural Sciences, Prof. Anastasia Tampakaki; Chair of the Department of Agriculture, Assoc. Prof. Emmanouil Roditakis; Director of the Laboratory of Biotechnological Applications and Plant Protection, Prof. Filippos Ververidis; and Prof. Eirini Dimou of the Department of Business Administration and Tourism. Head of the Chinese delegation was Mr. Hu Jun, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the Ningbo Municipal People’s Congress.

The city of Ningbo has emerged as a key center for the internationalization of academic collaborations in the wider region of China. Ningbo serves as an important hub for international cooperation in innovation, hosting the China‑CEEC Innovation Cooperation Think Tank Alliance, a platform that links China with Central and Eastern European countries in technology, research networks, and policy. At the same time, Ningbo University and NingboTech University maintain partnerships with more than 100 universities in over 70 countries, implementing joint study programs (Sino‑French, Sino‑US, etc.).
