The Department of Accounting and Finance of the School of Management and Economics at the Hellenic Mediterranean University (HMU) will confer the title of Honorary Doctor upon Professor Panagiotis (Panos) Pardalos, a distinguished scholar of international renown. This honor recognizes his significant and multifaceted contributions to scientific research, the academic community, and society at large. Special emphasis is placed on his work in the fields of Applied Mathematics and Data Analysis.
The ceremony will take place on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at the Events Auditorium of the School of Health Sciences, at the Heraklion Campus. Admission is free to the public.
As part of the ceremony, the honoree will deliver a keynote address titled:
“Impact of AI on the Economics of Sustainability”,
highlighting the challenges and opportunities arising from the application of Artificial Intelligence to the economic aspects of sustainability.
