HMU hosts Erasmus+ Information Day on Adult Education

The Hellenic Mediterranean University hosted an Informational Day on the Erasmus+ Programme (Key Action 1 & Key Action 2) in the field of Adult Education on Thursday, 22 January 2026.
The event took place at the Seminar Hall of the HMU Library in Heraklion.

Welcome addresses were delivered by Angelos Giouvrekas, General Director of the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY), Fotios Mavromatakis, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Lifelong Learning of HMU, as well as Georgios Matalliotakis, Special Advisor of the Region of Crete for liaison with research and academic institutions.

The event was also attended by Gareth Owens, Head of the HMU International Relations Office, and Ioannis Daliakopoulos, Associate Professor and Academic Coordinator of the Erasmus+ Office.

During the event, participants were provided with detailed information on funding opportunities, the application process, and the main eligibility criteria of the Erasmus+ Programme, with particular emphasis on actions related to Adult Education.

Representatives of organizations active in Erasmus+ projects took part in the information day, having the opportunity to receive specialized guidance, raise questions, and exchange experiences and good practices.

The Hellenic Mediterranean University has been consistently and actively participating in the Erasmus+ Programme, gaining benefits on multiple levels and strengthening mobility and internationalisation for students, academic staff, and administrative personnel, thus making a substantial contribution to academic development, professional growth, and international networking within the university community.
