George Xanthos, Associate Professor of the Department of Business Administration and Tourism, participated in the workshop “Innovation & Sustainability in the New Routes of Tourism”, which was organized on Saturday, December 10th, 2022, at “Polykentro” of the Municipality of Heraklion.
The purpose of the workshop was to present and discuss with local stakeholders, entrepreneurs and public the different approaches and models of sustainable tourism development. These topics were covered by the rapporteurs both technocratically and theoretically.
In this context, Mr. Xanthos presented an approach for a different model of tourism development of Crete based on the successful green and digital transition, so that the tourism ecosystem of Crete becomes fully resilient and able to respond to the challenges of the 21st century. The attendees had the opportunity to ask key questions and discuss their concerns with the speakers, thus provoking a dynamic discussion and interaction between academics, representatives of the tourism industry and members of the local government.
