HMU participates as a Partner at the ELECTRIPORT Project

Hellenic Mediterranean University (HMU) participates as a Partner at the ELECTRIPORT project, with its main activities focusing on the investigation of the Heraklion local distribution grid capacity and the design of the SCADA system for the cold ironing installation. As the local grid capacity is a major concern in cold ironing applications around the world, HMU is also active in research, investigating the use of renewables and storage in order to eliminate the issues arising from the limited capacity of the distribution grids.

The Project under the acronym “ELECTRIPORT”, funded by CEF 2020 funding mechanism, aiming at the detailed analysis of the energy needs towards cold ironing installation at the Port of Heraklion, concludes its Studies and delivers its outcomes within the next three months.

ELECTRIPORT Project examined thoroughly the technical restrictions, the efficiency of the installation in the Port as well as the feasibility and the efficiency of the whole venture. Dimensions like the financial aspect, the pricing models, the private and social surplus that are associated with the elimination of the harmful gases and substances in the surrounding port – city, have been processed.

Heraklion Port Authority SA, as Lead Partner and the Partners of the project, invite all the directly and indirectly involved stakeholders to share their know-how and expertise in order the final outcomes to reflect as many opinions and aspects about cold ironing and decarbonization in Port infrastructure.

We would be honored by your attendance on Saturday, December 10th 2022, at Athens Marriott Hotel, Syngrou Avenue 385, Athens, Greece, at 10:00 -13:00 (live & via live streaming).
