The Department of Agriculture of the School of Agricultural Sciences of the Hellenic Mediterranean University, in collaboration with ELGO-Dimitra and the Entomological Society of Greece, welcomes entomologists from all over the world to the 12th European Congress of Entomology – XII European Congress of Entomology – ECE 2023 which will be held for the first time time in Heraklion, Crete, 16-20 October 2023, at the premises of the Cultural Conference Center of Heraklion.
The Conference is expected to be attended by more than 800 scientists from all over the world, as it is a unique opportunity to exchange information and research results on a wide range of topics. The audience will consist of entomology-related researchers and academics, as well as policy makers, field agronomists, plant protection experts, medical practitioners, engineers, social scientists and artists. The scientific program will include lectures by international experts, symposia, oral and poster presentations and satellite seminars. In addition, the conference will be the ideal meeting place for networking with the aim of creating new synergies that may lead to breakthrough innovations in entomology.
According to the conference website, insect populations worldwide are currently facing ever-increasing problems related to climate change, loss of biodiversity and the need to feed an ever-growing human population through over-intensive agriculture.
The conference will be chaired by Professor Emmanuel Roditakis, President of the Department of Agriculture of the School of Agricultural Sciences of the Hellenic Mediterranean University and Professor Stefanos Andreadis, Researcher of ELGO – DIMITRA.
