Significant and increasing the number of HMU members, who have been included in the two lists of the world’s leading scientists for the year 2023, which were published by Stanford University on September 16, 2024.
The first list identifies the top scientists based on their overall scientific work for the year 2023. This list includes the following twelve (12) HMU faculty members, in order of performance:

The second list identifies leading scholars whose research work has accelerated progress and research in their fields of expertise, while also having a major impact on the development of work and other researchers by reference to their career-long performance. This list includes the following five (5) HMU faculty members, in order of performance:

The above lists also include the professor of EKPA Philippos Vallianatos, Director of the Institute of Physics of the Earth’s Interior and Geodisasters of the University Research and Innovation Center of HMU.
This ranking is carried out every year by the research group of Prof. Ioannis Ioannidis from the Meta-Research Innovation Center of Stanford University and is based on standardized indicators of cross-citations and impact, with data drawn from Elsevier’s Scopus database. In total, it concerns the publications of approximately nine million scientists internationally.
