The program “Simulated Clinical Training on Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) Support” aims to provide healthcare professionals with comprehensive theoretical and practical training in the use of the IABP — the most widely applied short-term mechanical circulatory support device worldwide. Participants will acquire advanced knowledge of cardiovascular physiology, IABP function, console operation, complication recognition, and clinical decision-making through hands-on simulation-based training.
Target Audience
• Physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals working in clinical settings where IABP support is available (e.g. general and specialized Intensive Care Units, cardiology and cardiothoracic units, catheterization laboratories, operating rooms, Emergency Departments, critical care transport services).
• Healthcare professionals seeking to develop specialized expertise in the use of the intra-aortic balloon pump.
Learning Outcomes
Participants will be able to:
• Understand cardiovascular physiology and core principles of hemodynamic support.
• Become familiar with the theoretical basis and operating principles of the IABP.
• Develop practical skills in patient management and IABP console handling through hands-on simulation of clinical scenarios.
• Respond effectively to real-life clinical conditions involving IABP support.
Upon successful completion of the program, participants will receive a Certificate of Training in the Use of the Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP).
