Innovation and research at the Hellenic Mediterranean University support the vision of “Crete of Knowledge and Innovation”

With a steady commitment to research, technology, and the dissemination of innovation to society, the Hellenic Mediterranean University (HMU) is participating in the “Innovation Days 2025 – INNODAYS”, organised by the Region of Crete under the auspices of the Ministry of Development & Investments and the General Secretariat for Research & Innovation. The event takes place from 28–30 November 2025 at the International Exhibition Center of Crete.

INNODAYS has now been established as the most important regional meeting point for innovation and entrepreneurship in Crete, bringing together this year more than 180 organisations, laboratories, businesses, and collaborative clusters. The Hellenic Mediterranean University is making a dynamic appearance with a unified booth (Position B7), presenting its research and technological ecosystem.

With teams and laboratories that generate knowledge, innovation, and applied research in key sectors for the development of Crete, HMU reaffirms its role as a pillar of the “Crete of Knowledge and Innovation”, strengthening the connection between academic research, society, and entrepreneurship.

As part of the INNODAYS 2025 conference, on Friday 28 November, during the opening ceremony, the Rector of HMU, Prof. Nikos Katsarakis, will deliver an address (19:10–19:20), while earlier, Manolis Tambouratzis, researcher of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at HMU, will present the talk “CircuitLib – The Electronics Circuits e-Library” (15:20–15:30).

On Saturday 29 November, Professor of the Department of Agriculture at HMU, Thrasivoulos Manios, will present the talk “The Mediterranean Greenhouse of the Future: The United2Innovate Approach” (17:50–18:00).

On Sunday 30 November, Konstantinos Vassakis, Assistant Professor at the Department of Management Science & Technology and member of InnoHUB HMU, will present the talk “Technology Transfer & Innovation at HMU” (13:30–13:40).

Meanwhile, Markos Kourgiantakis, Associate Professor at the Department of Business Administration and Tourism of HMU, is a member of the Organising Committee of INNODAYS, coordinator of the scientific supervisors of the Ideas Incubator “Evangelos Grigoris”, and scientific supervisor of the Innovation Marathon “Artemis Saitakis”. Dr. Kourgiantakis will be a speaker on the panel “Nutritional Culture as a Pillar of Sustainable Development” on Saturday 28 November (18:50–19:50) and at the closing ceremony of INNODAYS 2025, presenting the work and activities of the Ideas Incubator and the Innovation Marathon.

The presence of the Hellenic Mediterranean University at INNODAYS 2025 highlights the institution’s contribution to shaping a modern, sustainable, and technologically advanced future for the Region of Crete. At the same time, it extends an open invitation to the public, organisations, and businesses to visit HMU’s booth and explore its research and technological achievements up close.
