Professor Christos Floros of the Hellenic Mediterranean University has been elected to the Executive Board of the Multinational Finance Society (MFS), the International Scientific Society for Finance.

Professor Christos Floros of the Hellenic Mediterranean University (HMU) and Member of the University’s Governing Council has been elected to the Executive Board of the Multinational Finance Society (MFS) as President Elect for the period 2025–2026. His participation in the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee marks yet another important recognition both for him and for HMU.

As Professor Floros stated:
“It is a great honour to serve on the MFS Council. My goal is to further highlight the valuable work and initiatives of the MFS, which engages with important and timely issues in the field of financial economics.”

The Multinational Finance Society (www.mfsociety.org
), based in the United States, was founded in 1995 with the mission of advancing and disseminating economic and financial knowledge, theories, techniques, and research findings. To date, it has organised 31 Annual Conferences in various countries, bringing together distinguished academics and researchers who contribute substantially to the development of financial science. Through its conferences, publications, and networking initiatives, the MFS promotes excellence, facilitates the exchange of innovative ideas, and strengthens international collaboration. It also supports the highly regarded Multinational Finance Journal, which publishes high-quality scholarly articles on capital markets, financial institutions, risk management, and corporate finance.

This new distinction further highlights the high-quality academic work and scientific contribution of Professor Christos Floros.

Dr. Floros is Professor of Finance in the Department of Accounting and Finance at HMU in Heraklion and a Member of the University’s Governing Council. He also serves as:

• Director of the Laboratory of Accounting and Financial Management (LAFIM)
• Director of the Department’s Postgraduate Programs (MSc in Accounting & Auditing / MSc in Financial Management)
• Director of the Institute of Economic Analysis, Entrepreneurship and Tourism of the HMU Research and Innovation Centre

His main research interests include financial market and firm analysis, as well as financial risk management. His research output is distinguished by a high Google Scholar h-index of 44 and more than 7,000 citations, while he is frequently ranked among the leading academic economists in Greece according to international classifications such as Stanford’s top 2% worldwide researchers list, RePEc/IDEAS, AD Scientific Index, and ScholarGPS.

His appointment to the Executive Board of the MFS, alongside renowned academics from around the world, further strengthens the international visibility and confirms the scientific excellence of HMU’s Department of Accounting and Finance.
