“European Researchers’ Night 2025” at the Hellenic Mediterranean University – Institute of Plasma Physics & Lasers (IPPL), Rethymno

The Hellenic Mediterranean University (HMU), and specifically the Institute of Plasma Physics & Lasers (IPPL) in Rethymno, is hosting the “European Researchers’ Night 2025” on Friday, September 26, 2025. The event is part of the European project “Science Odyssey: Research Missions Under Starry Skies” and the broader initiative of the European Researchers’ Night, and is open to everyone. Admission is free.

Activities and Workshops for All Ages

From 17:00 to 23:00, visitors of all ages will have the opportunity to take part in a rich programme full of science, innovation, and interactive experiences. The programme includes:

  • Live Demonstrations & Workshops: Explore the cutting-edge laboratories of IPPL and watch live experiments such as star formation, X-ray laser applications, and sound imaging using the ESPI technique.

  • Live Link to CERN: Connect in real-time with the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) and follow the presentation “A journey to the beginning of the universe”.

  • Presentations: Learn about artificial intelligence, high-energy physics, and educational approaches to climate change.

  • Interactive Corners: Discover the “Citizens Science Corner,” the “ScienceHERoes – Equality Corner,” and the “EU Missions Corner,” where you can actively participate and engage in dialogue with researchers.

  • Artistic & Environmental Activities: Enjoy live music, refreshments, and join in outdoor games, crafts, and science-themed quizzes.

  • Evening music and treats in the Institute’s outdoor area.

This event welcomes everyone interested in discovering the world of research and innovation through a truly festive atmosphere.
