The “Beyond Business” Initiative Continues at the Hellenic Mediterranean University in 2026

The Department of Business Administration and Tourism of the Hellenic Mediterranean University (HMU) is pleased to announce the continuation of the innovative initiative “Beyond Business.” For the second consecutive year, the programme offers the academic community and the wider public a series of interactive lectures that go beyond the traditional scope of business studies, promoting interdisciplinary knowledge and contemporary skills.

In a rapidly changing world, understanding the natural environment, highlighting our cultural heritage, and achieving mental balance through art are essential assets for every modern citizen and professional.

Lecture Programme (Spring Semester 2026)

All sessions will take place in Room 201 (1st floor, Multistorey Building, School of Economics and Business) from 16:00 to 18:00, according to the following schedule:

“Think Blue: Understanding the Ocean in a Changing World”
Speaker: Dr Yolanda Koulouri, Marine Biologist, Research Director at the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (HCMR)
Topic: A critical perspective on the marine ecosystem and the challenges it faces.

“Reinventing the Greek Salad: From Tradition to Innovation in Cretan Gastronomy”
Speaker: Ms Sofia-Chara Aplada, Culinary Arts Instructor – Educator
Topic: Gastronomy as a tool for cultural identity and tourism innovation.

Thursday, 14 May 2026
“Stress Management through Art: The Creations of Imagination”
Speaker: Ms Vicky Kamenou, Visual Artist – Educator
Topic: Art as a means of expression and mental relief in today’s demanding environment.

The lectures are open to the public.
