The Hellenic Mediterranean University implements the “Artemis Saitakis” Innovation Marathon – Hackathon 2025, as part of the event “InnoDays – Innovation Days of the Region of Crete 2025.”

The Hellenic Mediterranean University (HMU) actively participates and serves as an implementing body of the “Artemis Saitakis” Innovation Marathon (Hackathon) 2025, organized by the Region of Crete in collaboration with the island’s academic and research institutions. The event will take place on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 November 2025 at the International Exhibition Centre of Crete (Gournes, Gouves, Heraklion), within the framework of “InnoDays – Innovation Days of the Region of Crete 2025.”

The Scientific Coordinator of the Marathon is Assoc. Prof. Markos Kourgiantakis, President of the Department of Business Administration and Tourism at the School of Management and Economics.In light of Crete’s designation as the “European Region of Gastronomy 2026,” this year’s Hackathon theme focuses on innovative ideas for the sustainable development and promotion of Cretan gastronomic culture. Participating teams will present their proposals before a judging committee, with cash prizes of €2,500, €1,000, and €500 awarded to the top three winners respectively.

The Innovation Marathon is an initiative of the Observatory of Innovative Entrepreneurship of the Region of Crete, within the framework of the project “Academic Innovation Actions 2025–2026,” implemented by the Hellenic Mediterranean University.Those interested may register until Friday, 14 November 2025, via the Idea Incubator webpage.
