University graduates
Rankings in the Departments of the Hellenic Mediterranean University
The following categories are eligible for classification:
- a) Graduates of Universities, Higher Ecclesiastical Academies, Technological Educational Institutions (TEI) and the Higher School of Pedagogical and Technological Education (AS.PAI.TE),
- b) graduates of foreign institutions, which are included in the National Register of Recognised Foreign Higher Education Institutions of the Interdisciplinary Organisation for the Recognition of Academic Titles and Information (DOATAP) of article 304,
- c) graduatesof branches of Legal Entities of University Education (L.P.E.),
- d) degree holdershigher education institutions over two years and two-year course of study under the responsibility of the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports and other Ministries,
- e) holders of a certificate of par. 1 of article 76, according to which the possession of at least one hundred and twenty (120) credit units (ECTS) is certified, following approval by the Assembly of the Department or the Single-Departmental School of the University.
The percentage of placements in each Department of ELMEPA amounts annually to thirty percent (30%) of the number of students admitted to the Department.
According to the Ministerial Decision No. Φ1/192329/Β3/13-12-2013 (Government Gazette 3185/Β’/16-12-2013), the selection of candidates for ranking is taking place exclusively with qualifying exams, with development issues in three (3) courses, determined by decision of the Senate, following a recommendation from the Department Assembly.
APPLICATION – DOCUMENTATION
It is not permitted to submit an application for placement in a Department from which the beneficiary has been removed due to completing the maximum duration of study.
The application and supporting documents of those wishing to enroll at the Hellenic Mediterranean University are submitted to the Department of their choice by November 1 to 15 each academic year and are as follows:
- a) Application (granted by the Department Secretariat)
- b) Copy of degree or certificate of completionstudies
To holders of foreign qualifications, if they have them, at the time of submitting the required supporting documents, they must present the certificate of equivalence of their qualification from the Interdisciplinary Organization for the Recognition of Academic Qualifications and Information (DOATAP). In the event that they do not have the above certificate, the HEIs of Greece, in order to determine whether a foreign institution or a type of qualification of a foreign institution is recognized, are bound by the National Register of Recognised Higher Education Institutions abroad and the National Register of Types of Degrees of Recognised Institutions abroad , in accordance with paragraph 4 of article 304 of law 4957/2022 (A’55) as amended by paragraph 2 of article 36 of law 5029/2023 (A’ 55).
If the degree has been awarded by foreign institutions which are included in the list of foreign degree-awarding institutions organized through a franchise agreement with private entities in Greece of DOATAP, candidates must also submit a Certificate of Place of Study, which is issued and sent by the institution where the studies were carried out. If the place of study or part of it is certified as the Greek Territory, the degree is not recognized, unless the part of the studies carried out in the Greek territory is at a public HEI.
Academic qualifications obtained abroad must: a) bear the Hague Seal ( Apostille ) and b) be presented in an official translation into the Greek language.
EXAMS – EXAM TIME
The examination are carried out during the period from December 1 to 20 of each academic year. The examination schedule is announced by the Secretariat of each Department at least ten (10) days before the start of the examination of the first course.
- Candidates , to verify their identity, present a police identification card or other official public document certifying their identity.
Candidates, on the first day of the exams, are required to be at the exam venue one (1) hour early. On the remaining days, they are required to arrive half an hour (30 minutes) early.
Colored inks, other than blue and black, and any other identifying element on the written essay exclude the essay from grading.
Any candidate who leaves the room hands over his/her written examination paper and is not allowed to return to continue the examination. Exceptionally, for health reasons, leaving the room for a few minutes is permitted and only when accompanied by a proctor.
The candidate is not allowed to enter the examination room with books, notebooks, notes or other objects other than those permitted according to the instructions of the Rankings Committee.
Re-examination or revision of candidates’ written tests is not permitted.
The candidates with disabilities and special learning needs –as specifically defined by the Ministry of Justice with no 92983/Ζ1/11-06-2015 (Government Gazette 1329/Β’/02-07-2015) – are examined orally, upon their request, which is accompanied by a relevant opinion in accordance with the disability certification system in force at each time by the relevant health committee, from which it emerges that it is not possible to be examined in writing.
EXAMINED COURSES
The courses examined are determined by decision of the Senate, upon recommendation of the Assembly of the receiving Department, no later than April 30 of the academic year preceding the holding of the examinations, and are posted on the Department’s website.

RESULTS – REGISTRATION OF CLASSIFIED COMPETITORS
The results of the exams are posted on the website of each Department and the Secretariat announces the dates registration of the classified ones .
SEMESTER OF RANKING
The semester of classification cannot be longer than the 5th semester for 5-year or 4-year Departments.
EXEMPTION FROM COURSES
By decision of the Assembly of the receiving Department, the classified candidates are exempted from the examination of courses or exercises of the curriculum of the receiving Department, provided that they have been taught and successfully assessed in courses or educational activities with corresponding content and learning outcomes within the framework of another curriculum according to the supporting documents they submit for evaluation and which were a condition for the admissibility of submitting the application for classification. By the same decision, the classified candidates are obliged to be examined in courses or exercises, which according to the curriculum are deemed not to have been fully taught in the curriculum that the classified candidate has attended. In any case, the classified candidates are exempted from the examination of the courses in which they were examined for their classification, provided that these courses correspond to courses of the curriculum of the Department or of the receiving Single-Department School.
