The Department of Agriculture belongs to the School of Agricultural Sciences of the Hellenic Mediterranean University. It was established by Law 4610/2019 and its academic operation began in the winter semester of 2019-20. The Department of Agriculture has evolved out of the internationally renowned Department of Agriculture Technology of the former TEI of Crete. The Department’s mission is to provide high quality education to students of Agricultural Science through its new 5-year Undergraduate Program as well as the Master’s Program. Moreover, the Department has been offering doctoral programs since October 2019, both independently and in collaboration with other Universities.
The Department is committed to continuously improve the quality of education it offers and thus guarantee that its graduates obtain all necessary competitive qualifications, enabling them to expand their horizons and increase their career opportunities. The Department’s renowned Teaching and Research Staff members are instrumental to the high educational quality of the study programs, in their continuous engagement with research. In addition, the close connection of the Department to public and private production units, as well as the modern laboratory facilities and infrastructure of the School’s Farm, an area of more than 75 acres located in the Campus, are important and appealing assets.
