A great celebration of sports is taking place these days in Heraklion, Crete. These are the matches of Group B of the European Volleyball Championship for Girls Under 18 (Girls), which will be held from July 1-9, 2024 at the indoor National Sports Center of Heraklion in Lindos. In this great celebration of sports, the Hellenic Mediterranean University (HMU) participates, making available the state-of-the-art and recently renovated “Markos Karanastasis” Sports Center, for team training. The eight national teams of the group: Greece, Turkey, Poland, Bulgaria, Germany, Hungary, Finland and Lithuania will train daily at the university, for the above period of time, aiming for the first two places in the standings leading to the semi-finals.
The European Championship is co-organized by the Region of Crete, while its support, along with the Hellenic Mediterranean University, is also provided by the Union of Volleyball Associations of Crete. The event is very important at the local level as it brings back and aims to consolidate Crete and especially Heraklion in the forefront of organizing major sports events.
