2nd Hybrid International Teaching Week “Sustainability after the pandemic”

Within the framework of the research program Weeks of International Teaching – Inclusive and Digital (WITEA-ID) the Department of Nursing of the Hellenic Mediterranean University (Scientific Manager: Associate Professor Dr. Athina Patelarou) organized on January 16-20, 2023 the 2nd Hybrid International Teaching Week with the theme “Sustainability in a post-pandemic world“. The WITEA-ID program is a partnership of five organizations under the Erasmus + program: Mendel University (Czech Republic), Hellenic Mediterranean University (Greece), University of Crete (Greece), Inter University Center Dubrovnik (Croatia) and NOVEL Group (Luxembourg).

Educational staff and students from Greece as well as the Czech Republic, Croatia, Luxembourg, Georgia, India, Zambia and Ghana participated in this event. The aim of the workshops and educational modules was to cultivate the participants’ competence in international mobility and internationalization in higher education by providing the opportunity for students and teachers to develop their skills in this field and attempt to overcome any obstacles. Also noteworthy was the participation of students in the PhD & Master Student Conference, which was held alongside the international week, in which PhD Candidates and Masters Students from six university institutions had the opportunity to present their work in different scientific fields and interact constructively.

Assisting in the effort to implement this event was the Office of International Relations, represented by the Vice Rector of International Relations and Outreach Assoc. Professor Konstantinos Petridis, who welcomed the participants and presented them with the research actions and perspectives of HMU, but also of the European University ATHENA. In addition, Dr. Gareth Owens organized the visit and guided the participants to the Palace of Knossos, taking them on a journey through the Minoan Civilization era.

Also, a catalyst for the successful organization and coordination of the activities of the international week was the participation of the Faculty Members of the HMU Nursing Department, Professor Eurydiki Patelarou, Assistant Professor Michael Zografaki-Sfakianaki and Assistant Professor Mina Stylianaki and the assistance of the post-doctoral researcher of the Department Nursing Dr. Vasiliou Tzadzadakis and Acad. Scholarship holders Mr. Antonis Christodoulakis and Ms. Evies Kotti.

The next WITEA-ID internationalization event will take place in Croatia, specifically, in historic Dubrovnik from 28-03-2023 to 01-04-2023 aiming at the outreach and diffusion of the action and results of this partnership.
