During the weekend of December 7th and 8th, 2024, “Markos Karanastasis” Indoor Gymnasium of the Hellenic Mediterranean University (HMU) hosted the career days – ‘Crete Career Pathways in Economics, Accounting & Business Administration’, attracting students, graduates and professionals from the fields of economics, accounting and business administration. The event was organized by HMU in collaboration with the Hellenic Chamber of Commerce – Eastern Crete Department and the Region of Crete.
Actions and objectives of the two-day event:
The aim of the event was to connect students and graduates with the labor market, to inform them about current trends in these sectors, as well as to enhance the professional skills of the participants. The action included:
-Career and job fairs: Representatives of companies and organizations had the opportunity to talk to participants, discuss the skills and characteristics required to fill job vacancies and provide valuable advice.
-Speech and panel discussions: Experienced professionals from the private and public sectors presented the current challenges and opportunities in the fields of economics, accounting and business administration. They also highlighted the skills required for young professionals to meet the needs of the modern market.
-Workshops and mentoring: Targeted workshops and mentoring sessions strengthened participants’ understanding of the application of theoretical knowledge in practice and guided them on topics such as CV writing, interview techniques and professional presentation.
Strengthening the links between education and the labor market.
– The action highlighted the need for closer cooperation between universities, professional bodies and businesses. Participants reported that the event gave them the opportunity to connect with potential employers, learn about labor market requirements, and expand their professional network.
