Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence Scholarship to the Vice Rector for Internationalization and Outreach of HMU, Konstantinos Petridis

Hellenic Mediterranean University (HMU) is pleased to announce its successful distinction in the field of internationalization, through its collaboration with American universities.

The Associate Professor of the Department of Electronic Engineering and Vice Rector of Internationalization and Outreach, Dr. Konstantinos Petridis, was selected (after submitting a competitive proposal) by the Institute of International Education-USA, to participate in the Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence (S-I-R) program (https://fulbrightscholars.org/sir). This specific program is a unique initiative of the Fulbright Scholar Program that aims to strengthen the internationalization efforts of American institutions of higher education.

Through the S-I-R Program, institutions host an academic from abroad for a semester or the entire academic year to teach courses, develop curricula, conduct lectures and develop student exchange partnerships. S-I-Rs help strengthen or expand existing international programs, develop new curricula, and add international dimensions to existing courses.

Dr. Konstantinos Petridis, who is just the second Greek academic to be selected for Scholar-in-Residence by an American university, will spend the spring semester of the 2024-2025 academic year at York College in Pennsylvania.

The Fulbright Greece foundation is organizing an official event at the American Embassy on Thursday, June 13, 2024, for the awarding of this year’s Fulbright grants to Greek academics and researchers. The awards will be made by the US Ambassador to Greece, Mr. George Tzounis, and the Minister of Education, Religion and Sports, Mr. Kyriakos Pierakakis. HMU will be represented by the Rector, Professor Nikolaos Katsarakis, and the Vice-Rector for Internationalization and Outreach, Associate Professor Konstantinos Petridis.
