A special evening, dedicated to the TEI of Crete – Hellenic Mediterranean University (HMU) staff members who retired during the period 2014-2023, was organized on Monday, September 18, 2023 at the Amphitheater “Markos Karanastasis” on Heraklion Campus.
The purpose of the event was to recognize on behalf of the HMU community the creative tenure and the many years of contribution of the staff of the TEI of Crete – HMU who served and dedicated more than 30 years of their life in the field of higher education, leaving behind an important legacy for the future of the Foundation. During the event, the Rector of HMU, Professor Nikolaos Katsarakis and the former Rector of the TEI of Crete, Professor Evangelos Kapetanakis, spoke about the progress of the Foundation, a video with photos of the honorees as well as historical moments of the Foundation was played, while a commemorative plaque was offered to all retired members. A special moment of the evening was the receipt of the honorary plaque of the late, recently deceased former President of the TEI of Crete, Chara Athanasaki, by her husband Panagiotis Michaelides and her daughter Aphrodite Michaelides.
The event was accompanied by a musical program that included plays for flute and piano by the musicians Manos Panagiotakis and Elena Perisynaki and the participation of the “Apollo Voice Ensemble” choir of the “Apollo” Music Association.
