Ethics Committee

The Ethics Committee has the following responsibilities:

  1. a) Prepares the “Code of Ethics and Good Practice” for academic, administrative and research matters, which is approved by the Senate and incorporated into the University’s Internal Regulations.
  2. b) Ensures compliance with and implementation of the rules of ethics by all members of the Institution and identifies violations of these rules.
  3. c) Drafts an annual report on the observance, implementation, or need for revision of the rules of ethics. This report is submitted to the Rector and communicated to the Senate at the beginning of each academic year.
  4. d) Examines, either ex officio or following a written report/complaint submitted by students, members of the Teaching and Research Staff (D.E.P.), members of E.E.P., E.DI.P. and E.T.E.P., researchers, visiting lecturers, and administrative staff, any matters within its competence in order to determine whether a violation of ethical rules has occurred. It may also investigate relevant incidents following an order by the Rector.

If a violation of ethical rules is confirmed, or if during the investigation a disciplinary offense is identified, the Committee submits its findings to the Rector, who evaluates the case and proceeds with the actions required by law.

The members of the Ethics Committee are:

  1. Fotios Mavromatakis, Chair, Vice‑Rector for Academic Affairs, Student Welfare and Lifelong Learning.
  2. Alexandros Garefalakis, Member, Associate Professor, School of Management and Economics.
  3. Filippos Ververidis, Member, Professor, School of Agricultural Sciences.
  4. Argyroula Kalaitzaki, Member, Associate Professor, School of Health Sciences.
  5. Konstantinos Kontaxakis, Member, Assistant Professor, School of Engineering.
